PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video image receiving system capable of restricting viewing by an unauthorized video image receiver, and viewing only video image of specific channel at the time of restriction of viewing, and to provide a sub-contract video receiver and a video image receiving method or the like.

SOLUTION: A sub-contract video image receiver 13 is connected to one main contract video image receiver 12 by network 15. The sub-contract video image receiver 13 is provided with: a network connection detection unit 32 for detecting connection status with the main contract video image receiver 12 in network 15; a video image receiving tuner unit 34 for receiving video signal; when the video image receiving tuner unit 34 receives video image, a video image reception control unit 33 for making the video image receiving tuner unit 34 receive video signal of limited predetermined channel when the network connection detection unit 32 detects the main contract video image receiver 12 is not connected at the time the video image receiving tuner unit 34 receives video signal; and a display signal output unit 38 for outputting signal for display.
