摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine capable of using an NOx retainer and a catalyst in parallel while preventing a drop of exhaust emission control capacity. <P>SOLUTION: An NOx storage reduction type catalyst 80 is provided in an exhaust gas passage 12 of the internal combustion engine 10. The NOx storage reduction type catalyst 80 is constructed by providing an NOx retention layer 92 on an inner surface of an exhaust gas flow in cell 90 and a catalyst layer 94 on an inner surface of an exhaust gas flow out cell 96 in a base material 82 including the exhaust gas flow in cell 90 having a downstream side thereof blocked and the exhaust gas flow out cell 96 adjoining the exhaust gas flow in cell 90 via a bulkhead part 86 and having an upstream side thereof blocked. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
