A shim for a disc brake shoe incorporates a metal plate coated on both sides with an elastomer such as nitrile rubber. One elastomeric layer i s coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive which facilitates attaching the shim to a brake pad. The other elastomeric layer is coated with a pigmented polyester or epo xy layer which is intended to match the color of the car.
