<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium capable of satisfactorily performing recording and reproduction and reducing an error rate in the optical recording medium having two recording layers formed by using an organic dyestuff. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium D is formed by sequentially layering a first recording layer 2, a second recording layer 6 and a second substrate 8 having a second recessed part 8L, a second projecting part 8G and a second prepit 8P on a first substrate 1 having a first recessed part 1L, a first projecting part 1G and a first prepit 1P formed thereon. The second recording layer 6 is formed by using a mixed dyestuff formed so that the mass Wa of a cyanine dyestuff having a refractive index na is larger than the mass Wb of an immonium dyestuff having a refractive index nb.
