A gear pump provided with: a casing having in the interior a gear storage chamber for storing a pair of gears; a movable side plate having a high-pressure entry groove in a high-pressure-side region of a sliding surface, which is the surface of a side that lies between the casing and the gears and that faces the gears; and a gasket that is provided to a non-sliding surface, which is the surface of the side opposite from the side facing the gears of the movable side plate, and that sections the space between the non-sliding surface and the casing into a high-pressure side and a low-pressure side; wherein a liquid-membrane-forming concavity is provided to the region where the low-pressure side changes to the high-pressure side in the sliding surface of the movable side plate, in order to suppress liquid membrane rupturing between the gears and the movable side plate and abnormal wear that occurs with such rupturing. |
