Thermally insulated coupling strip for metal components - is moulded strip with clamping plug to secure metal sections used in door and window construction

A coupling strip of a low thermal conductivity material is intended for joining metal section used in door and window applications to avoid a heat loss bridge being established. Projections on the metal components engage in slots (2) in the coupling strip. The coupling strip cross-section is designed to be rigid, except for projections (3) that have serrations (6) on the inner surface. Clamping plugs (9) have a tapered surface with serrations (8). When the plugs are forced into the slots (5) of the main rail the flexible projections (3) are forced outwards to grip the metal components securely. A typical application is that of double glazing units where thermal bridging results in condensation and corrosion.
