PURPOSE:To unitarily control the whole of a system when abnormality of external instruments occurs by a method wherein a driving system in a printer body is stopped immediately when indication for emergency shutdown is outputted from an emergency shutdown-indicating means. CONSTITUTION:An engine controller 3 is connected to a video controller 5 with an interface 21. A video controller communication means 23 controls communication to the video controller 5 via the interface 21, and besides interprets various commands sent by a serial signal from the controller 5 to be transmitted to various functions in the engine controller 3. Printing operation is controlled according to an indication for printing from the video controller 5. An emergency stop-controlling means 25 controls processing for emergency stop according to an emergency stop command or release of the emergency stop command from the video controller 5. Various drivers 26 control driving of respective parts of a laser beam printer 1. |
