Regeneration of cylindrical vehicle air filters by air blasting, washing and drying

The filter (1) as delivered, is pre-cleaned, removing adherent dirt. The main cleaning stage takes place in an autoclave (10) using wash solution, a process followed by air drying. Novel features include rotation of the filter in steps during these processes. For pre-cleaning, an internal air pressure (p1) is set up. A nozzle (19) blasts a jet of air against the inside (2) of the filter. A second nozzle (21) angles another jet onto its exterior. Both nozzles are stepped up and down. The pressure (p2) in the nozzles exceeds the internal pressure in the air filter. Also claimed is the corresponding equipment to carry out the process.
