<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with defective parts without requiring their replacement by judging such a head/disk set to be defective that when the number of defects to be detected from the disk surface of the head/disk set is larger than a set value for each individual head/disk set and eliminating the number of defective head/disk sets. SOLUTION: Defect detection is performed in a servo field of the whole disk including areas recorded with servo addresses, index bits, Gray codes and servo burst signals by a microcontroller 22. At the time of scanning defects, the positions and the number of defects in each head/disk set are detected, and if the number of defects is not more than the set value, this inspection is finished, and if more than the set value, and when the defects are generated in a specific surface, this head/disk set is eliminated, and when the defects are generated in many surfaces, this set is dealt with as the defective goods by the microcontroller 22.</p> |
