<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need of special parts, such as the timer IC, etc., for reducing the standby-time power consumption of an electric appliance. SOLUTION: In a method for controlling electric appliance, each section of an air conditioner which can be controlled by means of a remote control 10 is controlled by means of a microcomputer 30. The CPU 31 of the microcomputer 30 has a standby mode function. When a prescribed period of time has elapsed after the air conditioner is shifted to a standby state from an operating state, the CPU 31 is intermittently set to a standby mode. During the resetting period of the standby mode, whether remote control data are inputted or not is discriminated and, when it is discriminated that the remote control data are inputted, the operation for intermittently setting the CPU 31 to the standby mode is stopped and the air conditioner is shifted to the operating state from the standby state.</p> |
