The invention concerns a self-contained and self-cleaning sanitary facility particularly suited for sites not connected to electrical power grids, water supply network and waste water evacuation network such as beaches, for example. The sanitary installation consists of a structure (1) enclosed in a hood (11). The inside of the structure comprises a bowl whereon are several seats mounted on a rotary mechanism. Each time after it has been used, when the hood (11) is closed, the cleaning cycle is automatically triggered releasing counterweights (12, 19, 26). When the hood is opened by the next user, the counterweights will be raised for the next cycle.
