PURPOSE: An alarm setting apparatus for a digital TV and a method therefor are provided to select an alarm time and a program for which a user wishes, and reserve and teleview the program for which the user wishes. CONSTITUTION: A key input unit(17) inputs request commands and various operation commands for which a user wishes. An EPG(Electronic Program Guide) engine(103) sets an alarm using program guide association information separated through a demultiplexer(12) according to the request of the user. If the user selects an on-time and a program with reference to an alarm setup picture generated through the EPG engine, a control unit(101) stores the on-time and the program in a memory(102), counts the on-time stored in the memory, and executes the selected program in the corresponding on-time. An image signal processing unit(104) processes the corresponding program as a signal capable of displaying the corresponding program in the corresponding on-time according to a control signal of the control unit.
