DIRECT-TYPE ILLUMINATION BACKLIGHT APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct-illumination backlight apparatus having a surface light source.

SOLUTION: The direct-illumination backlight apparatus comprises a board; a wiring pattern formed on the surface of the board, a plurality of luminous elements mounted so as to be electrically coupled to the wiring pattern, a plurality of nonconductive sidewalls formed lower than the luminous elements so as to continuously surround in space each of the luminous elements, and encapsulation the members formed in the shape of dome inside the sidewalls so as to encapsulate each of the luminous elements. In this way, the luminous elements are mounted by chip-on-board technique on the substrate.
