摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser piercing method, and a machining apparatus capable of forming a piercing hole of a desired diameter with high machining efficiency and reducing the manufacturing cost while preventing the piercing hole diameter from being increased when a workpiece such as a steel plate is pierced. <P>SOLUTION: In the machining apparatus, a pierced part W of a metal plate is covered with an assist gas G ejected from a nozzle 47, and the pierced part is irradiated with laser beams L to perform the laser beam piercing in the metal plate. The machining apparatus comprises a thickness input unit 30 and an adjustment means 10 for adjusting the oxygen concentration of the assist gas G.
