The instrument comprises an instrument body (4) and an instrument head (3) having scraping elements (5) made of plastic. Also, a method of removing unremineralizable carious dentine from a tooth while generally maintaining remineralizable carious dentin, wherein the method comprises the use of the dental instrument (1).
