PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reagent and a method activating an antigen without damaging cells.

SOLUTION: This antigen activation liquid contains urea as a hydrogen bond breaking agent and usable for activating an antigen of a cell immobilized in liquid phase with a non-crosslinking immobilizing liquid, an antigen activation method uses the antigen activation liquid, and a cell detection method contains a step to perform the immunostaining of the cell containing the antigen by using an antibody recognizing the antigen activated by the activation method.
