Provided are a copolymerizable (meth) acrylic acid polymer having excellent properties such as being soluble in a solvent having low toxicity and a low environmental impact, a composition for optical alignment films including the polymer, an optical alignment film that imparts a liquid crystal orientation function to the film comprising the composition, and a phase difference film obtained by orienting a liquid crystalline compound upon the optical alignment film.
