Wearable electronic equipment for monitoring a sports performance of a person comprises a heartbeat sensor and a motion sensor. A processing means is adapted to calculate at least one performance parameter depicting said sports performance based on temporal characteristics of periodic features of the heartbeat signal compared with temporal characteristic of periodic features of the motion signal. The processing means may be adapted to calculate at least one correlation factor dependent on the temporal characteristics. The performance parameter may depict intensity of performance, train fatigue and/or fitness level of the person. The processing means may calculate the estimated anaerobic heart rate threshold level, a ratio of cadence and heart rate as an index, fitness index, fatigue index (e.g. EPOC), energy consumption, maximum speed or step length. The heartbeat sensor may comprise an ECG, optical, pressure or acceleration sensor. Time stamps may be used to detect individual heartbeats and periodic movements. |
