SANDWICHED BIODEGRADABLE MICRONEEDLE

A microneedle device for delivering therapeutic ingredients to the dermis or epidermis. The device contains biodegradable microneedles, which extend from a backing, and are sandwiched between a cap film and a film which is coextensive with the tips of the microneedles and the spaces on the backing between the microneedles.

1. A microneedle device for application to the skin, said device comprising:
a. a cap comprising a biocompatible film having upper and lower surfaces; b. a backing having an upper surface upon which abuts the lower surface of said cap; c. at least one biodegradable microneedle having a length projecting from the lower surface of the backing and terminating in a tip distal from said lower surface of said backing; d. said microneedle comprising a polymeric blend of preserved stem cell factors; e. a film coextensively covering said microneedle and the lower surface of said backing, wherein said film is formed from a flexible biocompatible material, whereupon applying the device to the skin with pressure upon the cap, a length of said microneedle penetrates the skin, thereby positioning said microneedle in the skin, wherein said microneedle biodegrades and delivers said stem cell factors to the skin.
