A brake pedal apparatus for protecting a driver is provided to prevent a pedal from hitting a driver in legs by rotating a part of a pedal arm toward a front side of a vehicle body. A brake pedal apparatus for protecting a driver comprises a base bracket(10), a hinge bolt(20) coupled to the base bracket, a support pedal arm(30) coupled to a front end of a push rod, a main pedal arm(50), a pedal arm coupling member(60), a pedal arm lever bracket(70) coupled to an upper hinge pin(43) passing through the support pedal arm, and a pedal arm spring member(80) fixed to the support pedal arm and the main pedal arm. The main pedal arm is connected to the base bracket through a return spring(41) and is coupled to the support pedal arm. The pedal arm coupling member integrally couples an end of the support pedal arm to an end of the main pedal arm.
