The purpose of the present invention is to simplify the configuration and control of a machine while enabling attracting and releasing by means of a magnet, without using a battery. Provided is a magnet work machine equipped with: a generator motor (8) driven by an engine (7); and an inverter (10) for controlling a magnet (6) and the generator motor (8) in such a way that the magnet (6) is energized by power from the generator motor (8) and attracts scrap metal or the like, and when the magnet is demagnetized in order to release the scrap metal or the like, the power that was being applied to the magnet (6) is transmitted to the generator motor (8) as regenerative power to be consumed thereby. On the basis of the detected main circuit voltage, the inverter (10) determines and issues an instruction for a torque for the generator motor (8) as an electric motor in accordance with fluctuations in the main circuit voltage, so as to minimize the voltage fluctuations.
