In the moulding of a hollow fan blade a fibreglass preform (18), which may be supported by an inflatable bag (26), is used to support upper layers of fibreglass cloth (24) within a mould (22). As resin is injected into the mould (22), both the fibreglass cloth (24) and the fibreglass preform (18) become impregnated thereby bonding the two together into a single unit during the moulding operation during which heat and pressure is applied. <IMAGE> |
