An apparatus and a method for announcing word information in a mobile terminal are provided to maximize the effectiveness of memorization by combining an electronic dictionary function with an alarm function and adding a random time operation function so that word information can be repeatedly provided at random time intervals. An apparatus for announcing word information in a mobile terminal comprises a random time interval calculation part(107), a memory part(104), a control part(101), and a display part(103). The random time interval calculation part(107) calculates random time intervals. The memory part(104) includes two storages. One of the storage stores a word information group for words a user is going to memorize, and the other one stores an irregular time interval mode a user can selects. stores a word information group. The control part(101) sequentially or selectively provides word information of the word information group at the calculated random time intervals. The display part(103) displays word information according to the control of the control part(101).
