PURPOSE:To alleviate a load on a driving system such as a shift register and to achieve the miniaturization of the circuit area of the driving system, by independently providing a first line, which applies a control voltage to the gate electrode of an insulating gate type transistor, and a second line, which applies a control voltage to the electrode of a capacitor. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 209 of a capacitor Cox is connected to a driving line 215. A pulse phir1 is inputted into the driving line 215. The pulse phir1 applies a positive voltage into the capacitor Cox, and a reading operation is performed. The reading operation is performed by applying the positive voltage pulse phir1 into the driving line 215. A driving line 210, which applies a negative voltage phir2, and the driving line 215, which applies the positive voltage pulse phir1 for performing the reading operation, are independently provided. The amplitude of the pulse in each line becomes 1/2 that in a conventional device. A load in the driving system such as a shift register is decreased, and the problem of breakdown strength is eliminated. |
