A supply reel with stapling wire (14,16) is positioned on a carrier (3), moved out of the appliance (1). The front wire end is moved by hand to a threader transporter (7) on the carrier, and passes through a flexible guide tube (18) into a sensor signalled position on the wire transporter of the stapler (22,28). The carrier is moved back into the appliance, the transporter is started-up automatically, to move the front wire end into cutting position, where it is moved forward by a stepping motor dependant upon the thickness of a stack measured by a sensor. The wire cutter is moved by the motor to position the wire section in a staple former and setter on the stapler head, the wire is cut, shaped, and driven into the sheet stack. |
