PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having both high thermal stability and flame resistance by compounding essential components consisting essentially of a halogenated epoxy resin-based flame retardant and a specific metal salt with a thermoplastic resin. SOLUTION: This composition consists essentially of (A) a thermoplastic resin (for example, a styrenic resin, a polyester-based resin, and a polyamide- based resin) and (B) one or more kinds of halogenated epoxy resin-based flame retardant selected from a halogenated epoxy resin and a compound having a structure in which a part or the whole of the epoxides in the halogenated epoxy resin are blocked, (C) at least one kind of a metal stannate a metal titanate and a metal zirconate. The component C preferably contains >=50 wt.% metal salt having <1μm particle size. As the result, the composition is capable of inhibiting gelling reaction caused when being retained in a heated state at a molding processing, and manifesting a high thermal stability and flame resistance.
