PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the scattering of the alkaline electrolyte at the time of operating a safety valve by providing a notch at a part of a peripheral flange part of a hat-like metal sealing plate concurrently serving as a negative electrode terminal, and providing at least three projections at equal internals on the back surface of the peripheral flange part. SOLUTION: A cylindrical metal can 1 having a bottom and concurrently serving as a positive electrode terminal is filled with the positive electrode mix 2. A hollow part of the positive electrode mix 2 is filled with a gel-like negative electrode 4 through a separator 3. A double-ring shaped insulating gasket 6 is arranged on the outer peripheral surface of a projecting part of a negative electrode collector bar 5 inserted into the gel-like negative electrode 4 and on the inner peripheral surface of an upper part of the metal can 1. A hat-like metal sealing plate 8 is arranged in a ring-like metal plate 7 arranged between the double-ring shape so as to abut on a head part of the negative electrode collector bar 5. An opening edge of the metal can 1 is bent inward so as to tightly seal inside of the metal can 1 with the insulating gasket 6 and the ring-like metal plate 7. The notch provided at a part of the peripheral flange part of the hat-like metal sealing plate 8 works as a gas discharging passage when the safety valve is operated.
