PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter element capable of preventing the deformation of a filter body resulting from the bending of an outer frame and capable of letting effectively work the whole filter material by making a ridgeline of the filter body so as not to bend while easy in production. SOLUTION: The element is formed by making the filter body 2 by bending a belt-shaped filter material 1 in bellows shape, and embedding four outer side parts 4 of an upper part 3 of the filter body 2 in a synthetic resin made outer frame 6 having a flange part 5 for a packing projecting to the outer direction from the center of thickness, and embedding both ends 9 and 10 along a bent ridgeline 8 of the filter body 2 of the lower part 7 of the filter body 2 in synthetic resin made holding plates 11 and 12. Notched recessed parts 18 and 19 whose upper part 14 has a wide port part 16 at the upper end and whose lower part 15 has a wide port part 17 are formed so as to face each other at the upper and lower parts 14 and 15 of the flange part 5 at the piece of an outer frame part 13 parallel to the bent ridgeline 8 of the filter body 2 among four pieces constituting the outer frame.
