PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermostat device for engine capable of reducing the whole width of an engine to make the whole body compact by contracting the length of a thermostat case. SOLUTION: A bypass passage 12 as a part of a coolant passage opened and closed by a thermostat 9 is formed so as to be buried in the water jacket 1b of a cylinder head 1a.
