An apparatus and a method for improving efficiency and linearity of a power amplifier are provided to improve efficiency at low power and to assure linearity at high power, by constituting a transmission path by selecting a proper matching circuit according to an operation period. A power amplifier(24) performs high power amplification of a radio signal. A matching circuit selector(25) selects one of two matching circuit by judging an output level of the power amplifier. An efficiency matching circuit(26) matches impedance of the power amplifier and an antenna, by giving priority to power efficiency in the output of the power amplifier. A linearity matching circuit(27) matches impedance of the power amplifier and the antenna by giving priority to linearity in the output of the power amplifier. |
