A secondary battery including a center pin movement-preventing hole or portion is provided to prevent an electrode assembly or cap assembly from being damaged by movement of a center pin, thereby realizing improved safety, and to facilitate discharge of gases generated in the battery during charge/discharge. A secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly formed by winding a cathode plate(14), anode plate(13) and separator(12) stacked successively, and having a center pin(16) at the central portion thereof; a casing(20) for housing the electrode assembly; a cap assembly(30) for sealing the top opening of the casing; and an upper insulation plate(40) installed at the top of the electrode assembly and including a center pin movement-preventing hole(50) formed at the position corresponding to the center pin and having a diameter smaller than the diameter of the center pin. |
