The pulse running time sensor has a transmitter (102) i.e. light pulse transmitter, whose signals are digitized with an analog/digital converter and/or a threshold unit. A set of signal evaluation logics evaluates the signals in the same clock pulse of the digitization, and the outputs are stored into assigned memory and are accessed by the sensor. One of evaluation logics evaluates the digitized signal as a function of the elapsed time. Threshold values of evaluation stages are introduced by a gradual approximation process.
