PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-fiber optical cable which prevents an optical fiber bundle from being immediately decomposed when an optical fiber unit is taken out, can easily remove thread or tape for identification, is excellent in identification property of the unit and is excellent in the working efficiency. SOLUTION: The optical fiber unit 13 is constituted by winding the thread 12 or tape for identification on the outer circumference of a body prepared by collecting a plurality of single-core coated optical fibers 11 straight or twistedly. The multi-fiber optical cable has such a structure that the outer circumference of a body prepared by collecting a plurality of optical fiber units 13 straight or twistedly is covered with a jacket 14, wherein the winding pitch of the thread 12 or tape for identification falls into the range of 10 to 50 mm.
