PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball-type constant velocity universal joint which increases the strength of an inner ring without affecting adverse effect when a ball is assembled. SOLUTION: At the end part of an opening side of an inner ring ball groove 32, a first tapered portion 36 which is inclined so as to approach an inner ring axis line L2 as directed toward the opening side is provided in a portion other than a practical range where the ball 40 rolls on the inner ring ball groove 32 when a torque is transmitted between the ball 40 and thereof. At the end part opposite to the opening of an outer ring ball groove 23, a second tapered portion 24 which is inclined so as to leave the first tapered portion 36 as directed toward the opposite side to the opening side when the ball 40 is brought in contact with the first tapered portion 36 is provided in a portion other than the practical range where the ball 40 rolls on the outer ring ball groove 23 when the torque is transmitted between the ball 40 and thereof.
