<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve size reduction of ICs, and moreover, cost reduction thereof by performing image signal processing without using a frame memory, and to facilitate achievement of high-functional and low power consumption display. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A display apparatus is disclosed, including: a display pixel section 6 including pixels each composed of an arrangement of RGB output-use subpixels; and a signal processing section 3 configured to modulate the RGB signals in accordance with a specified modulation level so as to have different brightness from that of an original image and simultaneously modulate the brightness of a light source.
