A lid assembly including a tearstrip (30) is disclosed. An extendible connection member (55) has a first end connected to a first end of the tearstrip. The connection member and tearstrip are each integrally moulded along the periphery of the lid (36), with the tearstrip forming part of a downwardly-depending skirt at the periphery. A pull ring (32) is also connected to the first end of the tearstrip.
