Urea addition through urea adding valve 2 is controlled on the basis of the maximum ammonia absorption amount. In addition, after completion of regenerative processing for igniting and removing Soot accumulated at SCRF 1, ammonia slip is intentionally generated through addition of urea and the ammonia slip is detected by NOx sensor 10.
