<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for correcting magnetic field distortion in a tracking system applying a plurality of EM receivers. <P>SOLUTION: In one embodiment of this technique, signals representing positions of a plurality of electromagnetic sensors (12, 14) under existence of electromagnetic field are collected and selection is carried out between signals from the plurality of electromagnetic sensors (12, 14) on the basis of one or a plurality of quality measurements. In another embodiment of the technique, a system (10) for selecting an EM sensor optimum for correcting one or a plurality of electromagnetic field distortions is provided, which includes a plurality of EM sensors (12, 14), an additional EM sensor (16) for transmitting/receiving signals representing positions of the plurality of EM sensors (12, 14), and a controller (22) configured so as to collect signals representing positions of the plurality of EM sensors (12, 14) and carry out selection of signals between the plurality of EM sensors (12, 14) on the basis of one or a plurality of quality measurements. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
