A roof system which includes a shear tie for the ridge beam is provided. This system is for use in connection with tile roofing systems in which a ridge vent for ventilation is also provided, but can be used with other roof systems. Sheathing is located on the rafters and a gap or slot is provided between the top edge of the sheathing and the ridge beam that extends along a majority of the ridge beam in order to provide an air flow path for building ventilation. A shear tie strap is connected to the ridge beam and to the sheathing on either side of the ridge beam. |
