PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inflate each of a plurality of air bags in an earlier stage while restricting interference when inflating the air bags.SOLUTION: An occupant protection device comprises: a forward projection airbag 12 that inflates a bag body in front of an occupant; a curtain airbag 14 that inflates a bag body on a side of the occupant; a radar sensor 16 that detects a peripheral situation of a vehicle; an acceleration sensor 18 that detects acceleration that occurs due to collision; and an air bag ECU 20 that, if it is determined based on a result detected by the radar sensor 16 that a collision cannot be avoided, decreases a threshold value by a predetermined value for inflating each air bag and, when an acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor 14 has become equal to or higher than the threshold decreased by the predetermined value, controls each of the forward projection air bag 12 and the curtain air bag 14 such that the bag body of the forward projection air bag 12 is inflated after the bag body of the curtain air bag 14 is inflated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
