PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an endoscopic image in which one structure does not interfere with the visibility of the other structure even when a microvessel and a microstructure are diagnosed independently of each other.SOLUTION: A base image includes a B image signal which has a glandular structure S and an image structure of a microvessel V. A glandular extraction filtering processing unit 131 applies to the B image signal a frequency filtering process which extracts a first frequency component to obtain a glandular extraction image signal in which the pixel value of the glandular structure S is positive. A vascular extraction filtering processing unit 132 applies to the B image signal a frequency filtering process which extracts a second frequency component to generate a vascular extraction image signal in which the pixel value of the microvessel V is negative. Images for emphasis and suppression are generated based on the glandular extraction image signal and the vascular extraction image signal. By combining the base image and the images for emphasis and suppression, structure-emphasized and structure-suppressed images are obtained in which the display of the glandular structure S and microvessel V is controlled. |
