PURPOSE:To obtain a tomographic image at the center of a constricted part even when the constricted part exists in a thin tube such as blood vessel of an organism and a detection part of a catheter or the like is blocked from inserting to the center thereof by arranging the catheter to include an ultrasonic transducer. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic transducer 2 mounted askew at the tip of a torque cable 5 is arranged at the tip in a catheter 1 and a signal line 6 of the transducer 2 and the torque cable 5 are supported rotatably through a rotary transformer. The torque cable 5 is connected to a rotary mechanism part 13 and rotated on a center shaft thereof. A signal line 6 is connected electrically to a transmitting/receiving circuit. Mounting angle of the transducer 2 is so set that the angle of transmitting or receiving an ultrasonic signal radiated from the transducer is at a specified angle theta to the axis of the catheter 1. An acoustic window 1a is provided at the tip of the catheter 1. |
