PURPOSE:To easily obtain the title high-purity compound in high yield without the need for cyanocobalamin as the intermediate through a few processes from a cultured product containing coenzyme-type vitamin B12. CONSTITUTION:The objective hydroxocobalamin can be obtained through the following five consecutive processes: (1) a liquid containing coenzyme-type vitamin B12 is brought into contact with a divinylbenzene/styrene copolymer resin to adsorb the vitamin to the resin, (2) the resin is washed with purified water or an aqueous cleaning liquid at 30-70 deg.C to remove impurities, (3) the coenzyme- type vitamin B12 adsorbed to the resin is eluted with a >=40% aqueous lower alcohol solution to obtain an elute containing the vitamin, (4) the elute is irradiated with rays of light to convert the vitamin to hydroxocobalamin, and (5) the resulting hydroxocobalamin-contg. solution is treated with an inorganic adsorbent followed by collecting the objective hydroxocobalamin. |
