PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart excellent durable shrinkage resistance to a cellulosic fiber- containing structure by treating the structure with liquid ammonia and subsequently treating the structure with hot water in a slightly tensed state. SOLUTION: A cellulosic fiber-containing structure is treated with liquid ammonia and subsequently treated with hot water in a slightly tensed state 100-150 deg.C. This method enables to impart good shrinkage resistance to the structure without processing the substrate with a special resin such as a cellulose-reacting resin, etc., and to give the treated fiber structure (woven fabric, etc.,) little in the deterioration of the strength of the fabric and in the shrinkage and in touch hardening of the fabric due to washing treatments. |
