PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new derivative excellent in inhibitory action on glutamic acid toxicity, useful as a medicine for activating and improving cerebral metabolism, producible from an actinomyces belonging to the genus Streptomyces. SOLUTION: This derivative is shown by the formula. The derivative is obtained by culturing a strain (FERM BP-5,637) of an actinomyces belonging to the genus Streptomyces in a proper medium. The compound has, for example, the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance: reddish brown. Melting point: 247-249 deg.C. Specific rotatory power: [α]<20> D=-33 deg. (c=0.04, methanol). Molecular formula: C21 H20 N2 O8 . Molecular weight: 429.1324 (measured value), 429.1298 (calculated value). etc. |
