A data carrier (1) for contactless communication with a communication station has a substrate means (2) and a communication resonant circuit (3) connected to the substrate means (2) and consisting of a communication coil (4) and of a capacitor configuration (6) and having a resonant frequency (f>R<) which should have a nominal value, changing means (9) for changing the resonant frequency (f>R<) being provided, which changing means enable the resonant frequency (f>R<) to be changed from an initial value both to higher frequency values and to lower frequency values.
