PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact strip material which does not contain lead, is therefore harmless to the environment, and is provided with wear resistance and lubricity to a trolley wire. SOLUTION: The slip plate material for a pantograph contains, by weight, >=90% copper and zinc in total, 0.2 to 0.4% aluminum and 3.5 to 5.5% bismuth. Mutual wear resistance and lubricity between the slip plate material itself and a trolley wire equal to or better than those of the conventional contact strip containing lead has been experimentally confirmed.
