A message comprising content destined to an upper-level application such as Java applications is received, such that the application is separated from messaging client. The capability data relating to client terminal is obtained and checked whether it comprises data about upper level application that is supported by client terminal. The actions responsive to checking phase are conducted. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) network element; (2) signal; (3) client terminal; (4) message handling system; and (5) computer program for handling message addressed to client terminal.
