PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device, with which spacer particles are arranged without damaging an alignment layer. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display device which is equipped with the alignment layers subjected to photo-aligning treatment for the purpose of controlling an alignment state of liquid crystal molecules sealed in a gap between a pair of substrates with no voltage applied thereto, and the spacer particles to maintain a distance between the pair of substrates constant, a spacer particle dispersion with the spacer particles dispersed therein is used, the spacer particle dispersion is discharged on either of the substrates with an inkjet method, the spacer particles are arranged on the alignment layer of the substrate by drying the substrate and making the discharged liquid drops contract, and subsequently the alignment layer is subjected to the photo-aligning treatment.
