PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element having excellent reliability in suppressing changes in display characteristics with time. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element has a liquid crystal sheet layer 4 having liquid drop particles 6 containing a nematic liquid crystal material and a chiral material dispersed in a solid phase binder resin 5, interposed between a pair of electrodes 3, 7, wherein the nematic liquid crystal material contains a halogen atom-containing liquid crystalline compound by 30 wt.% or more with respect to the whole nematic liquid crystal material.
